Les urbanistes démolissent des quartiers de la vieille ville de Shanghai pour la moderniser. Chaque année, plus de cent mille familles doivent quitter leur foyer et se déplacer en périphérie. Under construction est un survol en deux et trois dimensions à travers les zones aujourd’hui détruites de Shanghai, qui montre comment ces décisions aléatoires et brutales affectent la vie des gens.
City planners decide to pull down parts of Shanghai’s old town in order to regenerate the city. Every year more than one hundred thousand families are forced to leave their homes and move into buildings on the edge of city. “Under construction” is a two- and three- dimentional flight across the now destroyed living areas of Shanghai which shows how random and brutal decisions can affect peoples’s lives.

Né en 1976 à Shanghai, LIU Zhenchen, déjà diplômé de l’Université de Shanghai, vient parfaire sa formation en France où il étudie à la Villa Arson de Nice puis au Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains. Il vit et travaille actuellement à Paris. Internationalement reconnue et primée, son oeuvre filmique et vidéographique livre un regard singulier sur l’urbain, la modernisation et sur son propre pays.
