« C’est le septième film de ma série 47 km. Le plan d’ouverture montre un mur sur lequel est écrit un slogan politique, en partie effacé, qui est devenu un énoncé à compléter : « Seul le …isme peut sauver la Chine » . La femme qui habite cette maison répond à l’énigme en racontant l’histoire de son fils décédé. Dans le même village, Fang Hong, 14 ans, peint ses rêves sur le mur de sa maison. Les deux murs deviennent le paysage du village. Posent-ils une question ? Offrent-ils une réponse ? C’est comme l’énigme du Sphinx. » Zhang Mengqi
“This is the seventh film in my “47 km” film series. In the opening shot, we see a wall on which is written a political slogan. Because of rain and a courtyard door, this slogan has become a fill-in-the-blank question: “Only ____ism Can Save China.” The resident of the house fills in the blank while she tells us the story of her deceased son. Meanwhile, in the same village, the 14-year-old girl Fang Hong paints her dreams on the wall of her house. The slogan wall and the dream wall become the landscape of this village. Are they posing a question? Or are they offering an answer? It is like the great riddle of the Sphinx.” Zhang Mengqi
Zhang Mengqi est née en 1987. Elle est diplômée de l’académie de danse de l’université pour les minorités ethniques de Minzu en Chine. Cinéaste et chorégraphe, elle est depuis 2009 artiste résidente à Caochangdi Workstation. Elle a créé deux œuvres chorégraphiques Self-Portrait and Dialogue with my Mother (2009), Self-Portrait and Sexual Self-Education (2010) puis réalisé plusieurs documentaires dans le village natal de son père, dans le cadre du Folk Memory Project.
