Tourné sur une période de deux ans, entre 1978 et 1980, par son amie Ann McIntosh, qui a enseigné la vidéo avec Ricky Leacock au Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
An intimate, revealing film of conversations between Jean Rouch and a number of filmmakers and friends including John Marshall, shot over the two-year period 1978-80 by Rouch’s friend, Ann McIntosh, who taught video under Ricky Leacock at MIT.
Ann McIntosh, décédée en 2011, est née à Monkton (Maryland, Etats-Unis). Diplômée de l’Université du Michigan, où elle a obtenu une licence ès arts (BA) en philosophie, lauréate de l’Avery Hopwood Award pour la création littéraire, elle est également titulaire d’une maîtrise ès arts (MA) du Goddard College. Ann McIntosh a enseigné la vidéo au sein de l’unité film/vidéo crée par Richard Leacock au Département d’architecture du M.I.T. (Cambridge) et au Goddard College. C’est en 1977 qu’elle a rencontré Jean Rouch, et devenue son amie, a commencé le tournage du ciné-portrait, Conversations avec Jean Rouch.
